C-JET |
Delhi University has received only 1800 applications for the Combined Journalism Entrance Test . C-JET is conducted for the first time. The C-JET is scheduled to be conducted on June 19, 2011. The last date for the sale and submission of application forms for C-JET was June 8, 2011.
Earlier, the University has said that it was expecting around 3000 applications for the test. The strict eligibility criteria set for admission into the journalism course is the reason behind lesser number of applicants. Moreover, the cutoff percentage for candidates from the general and OBC category applying for the programme was 70%.
In total, DU has 181 seats for the journalism course in its five colleges that offer BA (Honors) Journalism. They are namely - Lady Shri Ram, Kamala Nehru College, Kalindi College, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and Maharaja Agrasen College.
As per sources, C-JET will be conducted by Maharaja Agrasen College. Sunil Sondhi, principal of Maharaja Agrasen College said that they had been expecting around 2000-3000 applications, but maybe the cutoff was too high for most candidates. He also mentioned that 35% weightage will be given to class 12 marks. Therefore, students with a good aggregate have an edge over others.
Moreover, college's offering the journalism course has also decided to give 50% weightage to the entrance test score and 15% to the personal interview. The results of the C-JET will be announced on June 29, 2011. Besides, students who successfully qualify the written entrance test will have to appear for an interview to be held between July 2 and 8.
